Ireland senior women’s coach Gene Muller has further outlined his plans to centralise the team to Dublin from this October. Muller last night explained the rationale behind the idea to base an elite group of players full-time in Dublin for 10 months, in a bid to secure qualification for the 2012 Olympics in London.
Bandon bemoan wildcard woe
Bandon warmed up for their Irish Hockey League wildcard adventure with a 5-3 Charity Cup final win over Cork C of I B at Garryduff last night, but the west Cork side are not happy about the failure to rotate the wildcard competition around the provinces.

Cork Harlequins have avoided a potential player crisis ahead of tomorrow’s women’s Munster Senior League Division One title playoff against UCC at Garryduff (4.30pm). The champions were facing the prospect of putting their title on the line without a number of key performers, following an unseemly midweek dispute between the clubs and the Munster branch regarding the fixture.
